Job description

Reed in Partnership has been delivering public services since 1998. We are a British, family-owned company whose mission is to positively transform people and their communities. Through our employability, skills and support services, we help individuals from all backgrounds overcome barriers, develop confidence, and achieve sustainable outcomes. Our work is guided by a commitment to making a genuine difference and creating positive social impact.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time role, although applications from candidates seeking part-time opportunities are welcome. Flexible working arrangements may be considered depending on business requirements and operational needs.

About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about helping people achieve their potential? Do you enjoy working in a role where you can make a real difference every day?

If so, Reed in Partnership would love to hear from you.

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Employability team as Careers Coaches. This role places participants at the centre of everything we do, providing practical guidance, coaching and support to help them progress into employment, training or education.

This position is primarily office based but will require regular travel across Tees Valley to meet participants, employers and stakeholders, and to attend community events.

Please Note: These positions are currently being advertised as Expressions of Interest only. We are developing a pipeline of talent in anticipation of upcoming contract opportunities and expect to begin formal recruitment activity in the coming weeks. Suitable applicants will be contacted when the recruitment process commences.

Who We Are

Reed in Partnership's Employability Division supports individuals who are unemployed, economically inactive, or facing barriers to work including health conditions, disabilities, caring responsibilities and a lack of recent work experience.

Through tailored support, one-to-one coaching, careers guidance, skills development and employer engagement, we help people move closer to sustainable employment. To date, we have supported more than 250,000 individuals in achieving positive outcomes.

About the Programme

Youth Jobs Guarantee is a mandatory programme supporting young people aged 18-21 who have been claiming Universal Credit for 18 months or more. The programme provides access to a fully subsidised six-month paid job, offering up to 25 hours per week at National Minimum Wage.

Alongside paid employment opportunities, participants receive personalised support designed to improve confidence, employability skills, workplace readiness and long-term career prospects.

What is the Role About?

As a Careers Coach, you will provide personalised support to participants throughout their journey towards employment. Through coaching, mentoring, careers advice and practical job-search support, you will help individuals identify strengths, overcome barriers and achieve their goals.

You will use a range of techniques including effective assessment, individual and group coaching, employability workshops and access to funding opportunities. The role also involves building strong relationships with local employers, training providers, Jobcentre Plus and community organisations to create opportunities that align with participants' aspirations.

You will play a key role in motivating participants, helping them build confidence and supporting them to develop the skills needed to achieve sustainable employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess participants' skills, strengths, aspirations and support needs.
  • Develop agreed action plans and support participants to achieve their goals.
  • Identify suitable training, volunteering, work experience and employment opportunities.
  • Provide guidance with CV writing, applications, interview preparation and job searching.
  • Deliver one-to-one coaching sessions and employability support.
  • Facilitate engaging group workshops and training sessions.
  • Conduct outreach activities within local communities.
  • Attend job fairs, networking events and promotional activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with Jobcentre Plus and referral partners.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor participant progress.
  • Support participants to sustain positive outcomes and continue progressing towards their career goals.

  • Access to a wide range of employee benefits and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference to young people's lives within your local community.
