Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an experienced HR Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day HR function within a school in York. You will provide practical HR advice and support staff throughout their employment, working closely with the senior leadership team.

This role offers a permanent contract, a 37-hour week Monday to Friday, with a salary range of £36,000–£42,000 per annum. Benefits include a pension, generous leave, and opportunities for professional development and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Experience as HR Manager or senior HR adviser.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to advise managers and handle sensitive matters professionally.
• Experience in education is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage recruitment, onboarding and staff induction.
• Advise managers on employee relations, absence management and performance matters.
• Oversee HR records, policies and employment documentation.
• Support safer recruitment and safeguarding compliance.
• Coordinate appraisals, training and staff development.
• Maintain accurate records and support workforce planning.
