Job summary

UNSW is recruiting a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences to lead teaching across multiple capstone courses and drive educational excellence. The role focuses on education-focused scholarship, innovative teaching methods and collaboration across the faculty.

You will oversee course delivery, programme-level assessments and work to advance equity, diversity and inclusion in student learning and outcomes.

Qualifications

• PhD in a biological, earth or environmental science discipline.
• Experience in teaching and learning design for undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.
• Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to educational excellence.
• Ability to lead inclusive culture and curriculum development.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team delivering SCIF1000 and SCIF1001 and collaborate with other Science Faculty courses.
• Apply a teaching philosophy and reflective practice to inspire student learning.
• Conduct classes, assess learning and support students at undergrad/postgrad levels.
• Design and develop learning activities, resources and assessments at course/program level.
• Support progression and implement inclusive teaching aligned with EDI principles.
• Manage course administration as Course Authority and ensure quality.
• Lead School meetings and seminars and participate in committees.
• Collaborate with peers across UNSW to develop strategies and mentor staff.
• Align with the Code of Conduct and university values.
• Follow health & safety policies and safeguard health and safety of all.
