Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a seasoned Building Maintenance Officer for a 7 month contract in Wrexham. The role focuses on maintaining educational properties, ensuring compliance, and supporting both planned and emergency works across the county’s educational estate.

The post involves surveying, project oversight, and collaboration with the Access & School Places Team. Travel across Wrexham County Borough is required, with bi-weekly pay and a chance to contribute to facility

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Surveying, Building Maintenance, Property Services, or a related field.
• Knowledge of building maintenance, refurbishment, and compliance standards.
• Proven track record in managing planned and reactive maintenance projects.
• Experience in preparing specifications, work schedules, and tender documents.
• Familiarity with building legislation, regulations, and health & safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel throughout Wrexham County Borough.
• Experience in Local Government or the Public Sector.
• Understanding of education estate management.
• Experience in managing contractors and capital maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert building surveying and maintenance services for educational properties.
• Coordinate planned, cyclical, reactive, and statutory maintenance programs.
• Assist in design, specification, procurement, and execution of refurbishment projects.
• Analyze condition surveys and provide technical recommendations and budgets.
• Prepare feasibility studies, specifications, tender documents, and contract details.
• Oversee contractor work and approve payments.
• Provide technical support to schools, managers, and council officers.
• Ensure adherence to building maintenance laws, health & safety standards, and council protocols.
• Maintain relationships with contractors, schools, and external partners.
• Aid in planning maintenance and installation programs across the educational estate.
