Job summary

People Group Limited is seeking a Design Manager to lead a DfE project on the Hertfordshire/Essex border with an immediate start. The role focuses on delivering the sports block, swimming pool, gym, changing rooms, and related spaces through stage 5 handover.

You will coordinate external design teams, manage design risk, ensure BB101 compliance and buildability, and align design with cost plans. Site-based role, approx. 5 months.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering education sector projects is preferred.
• Ability to develop and maintain Design Management Plans (DMPs).
• Knowledge of BB101 acoustic and ventilation standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain DMPs aligned with standards.
• Coordinate external design teams and consultants.
• Ensure compliance with educational layouts and safety regs.
• Review drawings for buildability and cost-effective VE options.
• Chair design team meetings and liaise with stakeholders.
• Manage design risk registers and regular workshops.
• Track design programmes against milestones and cost plan.
• Oversee RFI process and information distribution.
• Coordinate handover documentation and O&M manuals.
