Job summary

Parker Jones Group Ltd in Essex is seeking an experienced Design Manager for a new build school project under a DfE framework. You will lead the design process, coordinating with consultants, subcontractors and the client to deliver quality on time.

The role requires strong design coordination, knowledge of building regulations, and the ability to manage multiple design requirements independently while maintaining clear progress updates with the main contractor and site team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager in construction.
• Experience working for a main contractor preferred.
• Experience on DfE/education projects advantageous.
• Strong design coordination and documentation understanding.

Responsibilities

Design Manager - New Build School

Location: Essex, SS6
Job Type: Temporary / Temp-to-Permanent
Rate: Excellent Day Rate

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a new build school project in Essex, delivered as part of a DfE framework.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the design process throughout the project, working closely with the project team, consultants, subcontractors and client to ensure the scheme is delivered to the required quality, programme and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• * Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to delivery.
• * Coordinate design consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• * Review drawings, specifications and technical information.
• * Monitor design progress against programme and project requirements.
• * Identify and resolve design issues and risks.
• * Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, standards and DfE requirements.
• * Work closely with the main contractor and wider site team.
• * Attend design and project meetings and provide progress updates.

Requirements

• * Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
• * Previous experience working directly for a main contractor is preferred.
• * Experience working on DfE / education projects or frameworks would be highly advantageous.
• * Strong understanding of design coordination, construction processes and technical documentation.
• * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• * Ability to work independently and manage multiple design requirements effectively.
