Job summary

Cheshire East Council is offering a permanent full-time Education – Family Support Worker role based in Crewe and Macclesfield to improve school attendance and educational outcomes for children, young people and families. You will devise, implement and review individual support plans, work with schools and partners, and help families overcome barriers to education through targeted interventions.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in Childcare or equivalent.
• GCSEs A-C including English and Maths.
• Experience in working with families using interventions to improve attendance.
• Experience in multi-agency Early Help assessments.
• Experience identifying safeguarding concerns and escalating cases.
• Experience working 1-2-1 in family settings or with groups to resolve barriers to attendance.

Responsibilities

• Act as an Education key worker to a caseload of children and families.
• Devise, implement and review individual support plans/pathways to increase attendance.
• Maintain effective record systems for reports to care planning.
• Comply with statutory requirements, safeguarding policies and procedures, and issue attendance orders if needed.
• Network with local schools to broaden support interventions for pupils.
• Maintain communication with the team and external partners to mobilize resources.
• Evaluate service delivery and contribute to team planning with service users.
• Oversee health and safety within the team and its operations.
