Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an Education and Simulation Technician to support postgraduate simulation training from Foundation Year through Consultant level across multiple specialties. The role involves handling animal tissue, coordinating equipment, and supporting educators and trainees in department, in-situ, and virtual environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom, clinical, in-situ, and virtual education delivery, maintaining high standards of customer service and educational support.
  • Produce and update technical guidance documentation.
  • Order equipment and consumables.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of simulation equipment.
  • Build effective relationships with industry representatives and deputise for the Lead Education and Simulation Technician to ensure continuity of service.

Job description

support simulation training post graduate courses from Foundation Year all of the way up to Consultant level across a range of specialties. We collaborate closely with clinicians throughout the Trust to consistently provide high quality ongoing education. Educational events range from managing simulated patients with robots such as 3G SimMan, both in the department and in-situ, as well as surgical courses that we provide animal tissue for (typically pig), keeping the role varied. For this role you will need to be comfortable with handling animal tissue and their internal organs. You will also work closely with our administration team who arrange the trainees and faculty for each course. Our Team, primarily based at St James's University Hospital, with a small base at the Leeds General Infirmary, consists of two other Education and Simulation Technicians plus the Lead as well as two porters, and an AV Technician. Together we organise and support simulation training post graduate courses

About You

You will have the following skills, education, and experience that you will be assessed against and which are essential for the role: Significant experience working in clinical areas within a hospital setting, with hands on experience using a variety of clinical equipment/devices Hold a, degree in a relevant field, or relevant demonstratable practical experience, Experience of planning and delivering projects/events that require ongoing technical support. Able to independently manage your workload during busier periods and able to adjust task prioritisation when multiple events are running at once. Can confidently and quickly solve hardware and software related problems to avoid delays during an educational event. Comfortable with handling animal tissue.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include producing and updating technical guidance documentation, ordering equipment and consumables, coordinating repairs and maintenance of simulation equipment, building effective relationships with industry representatives, and deputising for the Lead Education and Simulation Technician to ensure continuity of service. The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and provide high-quality technical support across a range of educational activities.
