Job summary

Hydrogen Creative, the newsroom-inspired arm of The PA, is seeking an experienced editorial leader to head its news-generation capability. You’ll translate briefs into credible stories that journalists want to cover, working with PR agencies, brands and account teams from the outset.

You’ll bring significant journalism experience, senior editorial leadership, and a deep understanding of the UK news landscape, ensuring accuracy, credibility and impactful coverage across campaigns.

Qualifications

Significant journalism experience in a fast-paced newsroom.
Experience operating as a senior editorial leader.
Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape and current news agenda.
Understanding of PR and branded-content briefs.
NCTJ qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the news-generation strategy across campaigns.
Assess briefs editorially to identify genuine news value.
Develop compelling storylines, news hooks and narratives for earned media.
Collaborate with creative and account teams to turn ideas into credible news propositions.
Connect campaigns to the wider news agenda and cultural conversations.
Lead rapid-turnaround stories, data-led content, interviews and news releases.
Set high editorial standards for accuracy, relevance and credibility.
Provide clear editorial advice to clients and agency partners.
Mentor journalists and build editorial capability across Hydrogen.
