Job summary

Hydrogen Creative, part of The PA, is seeking an experienced Media Relations Manager to turn campaign stories into earned coverage. You will shape angles, build media lists, and collaborate across editorial, creative and account teams to secure impactful attention from national to digital outlets.

You will manage relationships with journalists, advise on outreach timing and angles, and stay ahead of the news agenda to deliver standout campaigns for a diverse range of brands.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in media relations, journalism, PR or newsroom-adjacent roles.
• Excellent knowledge of the UK media landscape and outlets.
• Proven track record of securing meaningful coverage.
• Established network of journalist contacts across national, regional, trade, broadcast or digital media.
• Strong writing skills for pitches, summaries and media materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver media relations strategies to generate earned coverage.
• Identify strongest editorial angles from briefs, data and ideas.
• Shape stories, headlines and pitches for target journalists.
• Build media lists and outreach plans across national to digital media.
• Pitch confidently to journalists and editors.
• Collaborate with editorial colleagues to ensure accuracy and credibility.
• Advise clients and teams on editorial angles and outreach strategy.
• Monitor news agenda for timely and reactive opportunities.
• Maintain journalist relationships and uphold The PA standards.
• Track coverage and feedback to improve future campaigns.
