Job summary

The PA Media Group seeks an experienced editorial leader to head the news-generation capability within Hydrogen Creates. You will shape story angles from briefs, align campaigns with the wider news agenda, and uphold the accuracy and credibility expected of The PA.

You’ll work with PR agencies, brands and account teams, mentoring journalists and driving rapid, data-led content and news releases for diverse UK campaigns in a hybrid Paddington environment.

Qualifications

• Significant journalism experience in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Experience as a senior editorial leader.
• Excellent knowledge of the UK media landscape.
• Ability to make rapid, accurate editorial decisions.
• Experience leading journalists and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the news-generation strategy across campaigns.
• Assess briefs editorially to identify genuine news value.
• Develop compelling storylines and news hooks for earned media.
• Collaborate with creative and account teams to turn ideas into news propositions.
• Connect campaigns to the wider news agenda and cultural conversations.
• Leverage knowledge of UK newsrooms to tailor stories for audiences.
• Develop rapid-turnaround stories, data-led content, interviews and news releases.
• Find multiple angles to maximize coverage.
• Set high editorial standards for accuracy and credibility.
• Provide editorial advice to clients and agencies with realistic expectations.
• Mentor journalists and raise editorial capability.
