Job summary

Penguin Random House UK seeks an Editorial Director for Penguin Press to cover a parental leave period of up to 12 months. The role is based at Embassy Gardens and involves acquiring new titles for Penguin Classics, as well as overseeing the outgoing Editorial Director’s list.

The candidate should have editorial judgement, project-management skills, and the ability to commission and edit translations, working closely with colleagues on positioning, copy, design, publicity and marketing strategy.

Qualifications

• Editorial judgement and project-management skills are essential.
• Ability to acquire new titles and manage publication from acquisition to publication.
• Experience commissioning and editing translations and editorial material.

Responsibilities

• Acquire new titles for the Penguin Classics list.
• Oversee the Editorial Director’s existing list and estates.
• Collaborate with Penguin Press colleagues on positioning, copy, design, publicity and marketing strategy.
