Job summary

Penguin Press in London (Embassy Gardens) seeks an Editorial Director to cover parental leave for up to 12 months. You will acquire new titles for Penguin Classics and oversee publication of the existing list, including translations, from acquisition through publication.

You will need editorial judgement and strong project-management skills, ability to build relationships with authors, translators, agents and estates, and to collaborate on positioning, copy, design, publicity and marketing.

Qualifications

• Editorial judgement and strong project-management skills to develop a book from acquisition through to publication.
• Experience commissioning and editing translations and other editorial material.
• Ability to work closely with colleagues on positioning, copy, design, publicity and marketing.

Responsibilities

• Acquire new titles for Penguin Classics and oversee publication of the existing list.
• Develop titles from acquisition through publication, including translations.
• Commission and edit translations and other editorial material.
• Collaborate with Penguin Press colleagues on positioning, copy, design, publicity and marketing.
• Build strong relationships with authors, translators, agents and estates.
