Job summary

The Economist Group in London is seeking an AI Transformation Lead for Editorial to turn strategic AI ambitions into measurable newsroom improvements.

You will partner with editorial and other business units to identify opportunities, build prototypes, drive adoption and measure benefits, while keeping journalism human at the center. This hands-on role requires strong stakeholder skills and practical AI experience.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience in transformation, consulting, product, operations, business analysis, technology delivery or a similar cross‑functional role.
• Hands-on experience building with AI and agentic tools.
• Experience applying AI, automation, data or digital tools to improve business processes.
• Meaningful, demonstrable hands‑on experience building with AI and agentic tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and prioritise AI opportunities within Editorial and other areas.
• Reimagine current workflows and define high‑value use cases.
• Define problem statements, scope, success measures and delivery approaches.
• Build working prototypes, models and integrations to test with users.
• Take AI initiatives through production with engineering and platform teams.
• Drive adoption through training, communication and embedding into daily workflow.
• Track usage and benefits, adjusting initiatives based on evidence.
• Report progress and blockers to senior editors.
• Stay current on AI tooling and translate developments into opportunities.
