Job description

Wellington College is a world-leading independent boarding and day school. We are a dynamic, values-led community where ambition and collaboration drive excellence across academic life, sport, and the wider school community.

Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, our 400 acre estate provides a distinctive and inspiring place to work.

You will play an important role in our school community, working alongside dedicated colleagues to ensure the smooth and effective running of Wellington. Your contribution will directly support pupils, staff, and visitors every day, and you will have access to development opportunities that help you grow in your career.

Wellington College is seeking a highly organised Administrative Assistant to support the Deputy Head Compassion, Belonging and Wellbeing. This is a fixed-term maternity cover position, commencing in January 2027 for one year. The role is offered for 21 hours per week, working 39 weeks per year.

Working closely with the Deputy Head Compassion, Belonging and Wellbeing, the postholder will provide reliable, responsive coordination that helps the department’s varied work progress effectively. They will bring order and care to diaries, meetings, records and documentation, ensuring colleagues have the information and practical arrangements they need. The role will also support departmental events, professional development, conferences, pupil engagement and trip administration, contributing to welcoming and well-managed experiences for those involved.

Accurate information management will be an important aspect of the post. The successful candidate will help maintain Wellbeing and EDI data, prepare materials for reports and presentations, and create clear communications that connect staff, pupils, parents and external partners with the department’s work. They will be comfortable using digital systems and producing accessible documents, spreadsheets and visual materials, while managing changing priorities and competing deadlines with a calm, methodical approach.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an approachable, discreet administrator who values inclusion, belonging and social responsibility. As part of a small collaborative team, the postholder will build positive relationships across the College community and handle sensitive information with sound judgement, confidentiality and care. Clear communication, close attention to detail and a commitment to Wellington’s values of Kindness, Courage, Respect, Integrity and Responsibility will be central to the role.

Applications close on 1 November.

At Wellington, you'll be part of a supportive school community where your work makes a meaningful difference every day. You will collaborate with dedicated colleagues and have opportunities for professional development that help you continue to build your skills and confidence.

Wellington College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You must have the right to work in the UK.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds. We promote an inclusive and supportive environment and are an equal opportunities employer.
