GSL SEN Education is seeking Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies graduates based in Leicester to work as SEN Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in specialist schools for children with EHCPs related to trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, ADHD, ADD, OCD, and other associated conditions.

This role is ideal for sincere graduates aiming to gain practical experience in the field, supporting aspirations in Clinical Psychology, Advocacy, Youth/Social Justice, or preparing for Teaching careers. It offers daily exposure to the nuanced and vital role of supporting children with diverse needs.

Key considerations when working as an LSA in an Alternative Learning Provision include:

  • Building relationships based on comfort through a Restorative approach (prioritizing comfort over content)
  • Demonstrating the value of education to students

Working with children with varied mental health backgrounds, cultures, and home lives makes relationship-building and understanding individual needs crucial. It is essential to qualify and disqualify sectors related to SEN and Mental Health for yourself.

Applicants must have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
