Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are hiring an Operations & Maintenance Engineer for Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities in your designated area, including major motorways such as M25, M4, M11, and M1, as well as A14, M40, and A1(M).

Do you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative in the field? Our engineers are vital in maintaining and supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, helping keep critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing commissioning of equipment to standards, on time and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues within transmission buildings and roadside cabinets, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance, commissioning, and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing all required documentation promptly.

Candidate Profile:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is preferred.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Availability for overtime or callouts as needed.
• Full UK driving license.
