Training & Qualification
Essential criteria
  • The post holder shall be degree qualified in an engineering or related discipline or in the field of energy and environmental management and/or demonstrate an exceptional level of relevant experience to masters level or equivalent.
  • The post holder will be required to have highly developed specialist knowledge in the following areas: Energy Supply, utilisation and associated legislation; Energy Targeting, Monitoring and Control; Energy efficient technologies and their application.
  • The post holder will be required to use their specialist knowledge in Healthcare/Engineering Guidance requirements to develop and implement policies and procedures for the department.
  • Ability to demonstrate Continued Professional Development (CPD) in relevant subjects.
Desirable criteria
  • Chartered Member of a relevant professional body such as IEMA.
  • Project Management qualification.
  • Recognised qualification in mandatory carbon reporting.
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a large organisation, dealing with complex energy issues.
  • Significant environmental and sustainability experience within an organisation.
  • Experience of co-ordinating, developing and delivering environmental training.
  • Experience in delivering presentations.
  • Track record of developing and delivering successful sustainability initiatives.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience in a similar role.
  • Significant experience of delivering energy services within the healthcare sector.
  • Experience of quality and environmental management systems and standards.
Communication & Relationship
Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and oral communication and report writing skills with the ability to explain specialist information and complex issues clearly to technical and non-technical staff, contractors, suppliers, etc.
  • Strong delegation and interpersonal skills to support the development of excellent working relationships with personnel both within and outside the Trust.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with clinical, technical and managerial staff both inside and outside of the organisation at all levels with regards to sustainability.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to work across boundaries, develop alliances, project a vision and obtain ownership and commitment from stakeholders.

Salary: The quoted salary will be pro-rata for part-time workers.
