Job summary

Job description

About the Role

The HR Assistant plays a key role in talent acquisition by proactively identifying and engaging with potential candidates through various professional platforms such as job boards, LinkedIn, and employee referrals. They conduct screening interviews, schedule and manage interview processes, and provide timely feedback to candidates, ensuring a smooth transition from selection to onboarding.

In collaboration with hiring managers, the HR Assistant will develop and refine job descriptions while also participating in recruitment events to build a strong talent pipeline. Overseeing the accuracy of new starter documentation and leading HR induction sessions, they are responsible for integrating new employees into the organisation's culture and goals.

Beyond recruitment, the HR Assistant supports compensation, benefits, and workplace health and safety initiatives. They act as a point of contact for benefits-related inquiries, ensuring employees understand their entitlements and assisting with enrolments and updates.

Maintaining accurate records and coordinating benefits administration through HR portals, they ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Their role in workplace safety includes conducting risk assessments, maintaining safety records, and liaising with external providers to organise training sessions.

Additionally, they support broader HR operations by facilitating accurate data collection and reporting using HRIS systems, ensuring efficient communication and compliance across the organisation.

Please note this is an office based role, with the possibility of working from home one day a week after probation.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience of internal recruitment.
  • Experience of providing HR support.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable.
  • Strong communication skills, ensuring effective interactions across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience of the banking or financial sector.
  • CIPD qualified or working towards a level 3.
