Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent enables the technology behind everyday activities such as phone calls, internet use, and transportation. We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning activities in designated areas including M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

This role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve field problems. Responsibilities include maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works, contributing to the nation’s critical infrastructure connectivity and protection 24/7.

What You’ll Do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables.
• Complete commissioning of equipment to standard, on time and within budget.
• Address equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance, testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete necessary documentation promptly.

Who You Are:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments preferred.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Availability for overtime or callouts.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
