Job description

Job Title: Joinery and Estates Technician

Location: NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00

About NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Job Purpose

To provide joinery services and flexible minor building cross-trade skills (including tiling, glazing, drainage, roofing) to support NHS GG&C's healthcare facilities. Ensures the safe delivery of patient care through effective maintenance, repair, and installation services that deliver quality and value for money.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver safe maintenance services for all building infrastructure.
  2. Assist in developing the Estates department into a customer-focused service.
  3. Adopt a flexible, integrated approach to service delivery.
  4. Maintain recognized and registered qualifications such as EITB or CITB craft apprenticeship, or City & Guilds qualifications.
  5. Possess extensive relevant experience in building maintenance, preferably within the healthcare sector.
About the Department

The Estates Department ensures the delivery of uninterrupted, high-quality healthcare by maintaining a safe, comfortable, and compliant built environment. Responsibilities include planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, and installation of critical plant and equipment supporting clinical services. The department also manages infection control in the built environment and provides technical support for clinical service developments, including project planning and tendering.
