Job purpose

This role supports the General Counsel in developing and implementing nexfibre’s regulatory and compliance strategies and activities.

Within a small team, this individual will handle various responsibilities, including critical projects like the Telecoms Access Review, and engage regularly with Ofcom, DSIT, BDUK, and industry trade associations.

Initially, this role will focus on developing compliance and security policies and ensuring their ongoing management and adherence.

In this role you will:

  • Operate in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment focused on excellence in implementation and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners and advisors.
  • Stay informed of regulatory trends and promote best practices within the organization.
  • Provide strategic regulatory advice to senior leadership and stakeholders, covering areas like the Communications Act and Telecoms Security Act.
  • Ensure compliance with telecom regulations and industry standards.
  • Contribute to regulatory engagement strategies and company policies on regulatory matters.
  • Lead or support regulatory meetings and manage responses to government and regulatory inquiries, especially with Ofcom, DSIT, and BDUK.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining compliance policies, especially related to telecoms security.
  • Promote awareness and training on regulatory requirements and expectations.

Knowledge & experience

  • Degree or relevant professional qualifications.
  • Deep knowledge of UK telecoms law and regulation, with experience from in-house, consulting, or law firms advising in the telecoms sector.
  • Experience managing regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • SOLUTION-oriented with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Self-sufficient, able to work independently and collaboratively, acting as a business adviser.
  • Capable of multitasking and working calmly under pressure; high energy and strong work ethic.
  • Strong ethical principles.
