Job Opportunity: Commercial Manager in Social Housing

Daniel Owen is proud to represent a well-known social housing company based in Essex. They are seeking an ambitious Commercial Manager to join their team.

This proactive Commercial Manager role offers an excellent opportunity for someone eager to progress quickly within a social housing environment, with support from the start.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the commercial success and viability of the Repairs & Planned service.
  2. Report to the Commercial Director and lead all commercial activities related to Repairs, Planned, D&M, and Disrepair services.
  3. Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers and contractors, review arrangements, and ensure value for money.
  4. Own the budgets for the service and collaborate with the Head of Operations to maximize commercial outcomes within budget limits.
  5. Manage cost control, variations, approvals, and finance reporting.
  6. Validate all materials expenditure for Repairs & Planned services.
  7. Oversee the team and liaise with clients to ensure commercial objectives are met.
  8. Resolve contractual issues with clients and supply chain.
  9. Coordinate with the Head of Operations on Business Unit reports and CVRs.
  10. Focus on contract performance, WIP, debt, and produce monthly cost, value, and profit reconciliations.
  11. Manage the commercial team to produce and claim variations, including extra works, to maximize evaluation.
  12. Lead a regional team including Commercial, Estimating, Surveying, Governance, Procurement, and Administration, overseeing performance management, reviews, disciplinary actions, and development.
Key Knowledge & Qualifications:
  • Interest in property services/construction industry
  • Proficiency in IT and Excel
  • HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related Commercial Management qualification
