Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a capable senior nurse to support the emergency department’s senior team. The post focuses on shift coordination, staff deployment and ensuring high standards of care and safety.

You will supervise a multidisciplinary team and contribute to governance and risk management within the ED. The role requires a PG Cert in Emergency Care or equivalent Level 7 training, and a minimum of three years’ acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in the emergency department essential with minimum 3 years.
• PG Cert in Emergency Care or equivalent Level 7 training completed.
• Registered Nurse with NMC registration and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Act as shift co-ordinator, deploying staff and ensuring safe patient care.
• Develop, manage and monitor performance of nursing team.
• Promote effective communication and teamwork at all levels.
• Demonstrate clinical leadership and specialist knowledge.
• Assist management of staff including HR, governance and risk management.
• Contribute to strategic and operational development of the department.
• Provide supervision and clinical guidance to junior staff and mentors.
• Deliver training programmes and annual staff appraisals.
