Are you an Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Sociology with a passion for inspiring young minds?

GSL Education are delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking school in Redbridge in their search for a dedicated ECT Sociology Teacher to join their Humanities team from September 2025 on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop professionally in a school that values creativity, rigour, and student-centred learning.

About the Role

This is a fantastic role for a passionate ECT looking to kick-start their teaching career. You will be teaching Sociology across KS4 and KS5, supporting students to develop their understanding of key sociological concepts and encouraging critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that stimulate critical thinking and debate.
  • Plan and assess Sociology lessons in line with the GCSE and A-Level curriculum.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Track progress and use data to inform teaching strategies.
  • Participate fully in department planning and whole-school CPD initiatives.
  • Contribute positively to students’ academic progress and overall well-being.

Job Requirements:

  • A qualified teacher status (QTS) with a specialisation or a degree in Sociology or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Sociology across the schools of the UK.
  • Sound knowledge of the AQA/Edexcel Sociology curriculum is highly desirable.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Strong commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
