Job description

Job Title: ECT Sociology Teacher
Location: Redbridge
Salary Range: £165 - £265 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Long-Term

Are you an Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Sociology with a passion for inspiring young minds?

GSL Education are delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking school in Redbridge in their search for a dedicated ECT Sociology Teacher to join their Humanities team from September 2025 on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop professionally in a school that values creativity, rigour, and student-centred learning.

About the Role

This is a fantastic role for a passionate ECT looking to kick-start their teaching career. You will be teaching Sociology across KS4 and KS5, supporting students to develop their understanding of key sociological concepts and encouraging critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that stimulate critical thinking and debate.
  2. Plan and assess Sociology lessons in line with the GCSE and A-Level curriculum.
  3. Create an inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
  4. Track progress and use data to inform teaching strategies.
  5. Participate fully in department planning and whole-school CPD initiatives.
  6. Contribute positively to students' academic progress and overall well-being.

Job Requirements:

  1. A qualified teacher status (QTS) with a specialisation or a degree in Sociology or a closely related field.
  2. Proven experience teaching Sociology across the schools of the UK.
  3. Sound knowledge of the AQA/Edexcel Sociology curriculum is highly desirable.
  4. Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  5. Strong commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.
  6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  7. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
