Job Opportunity: Economist (Contract, Maternity Cover)

We have a current opportunity for an Economist on a contract basis to cover maternity leave. The position will be based in either Uxbridge or Aberdeen with a leading energy company.

Primary Purpose: Evaluate growth and business opportunities across the client's UK business and support the current incumbent during her maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide economic evaluations supporting investment opportunities across the UK, with potential support for Africa business, including exploration, development, brownfield projects, and strategic options.
  2. Present economic analysis to Joint Venture partners.
  3. Participate in project Gate Reviews and prepare Gate documentation.
  4. Support project PAFs, Strategic Plan, annual Work Programme & Budget, and other key business processes (e.g., impairment & reserves reviews).
  5. Participate in Peer Reviews and identify issues requiring Economics Peer Assistance.
  6. Conduct economic lookbacks on major expenditures to assess value added and capital efficiency.
  7. Complete other analyses and ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Established petroleum economist with experience in UK economic evaluations.
  • Exposure to G&G, Reservoir Engineering, Facilities Engineering, and Planning.
  • Expert knowledge of the UK oil and gas fiscal regime.
  • Experience providing economic evaluations supporting commercial analysis.
  • Strong economic modeling skills with ability to review others’ work.
  • High proficiency in Excel and presentation skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience as an economist within project evaluation teams.
