An established industry player is seeking an experienced Economist to join their team for maternity cover. This role involves evaluating growth and business opportunities across the UK, providing economic analysis for investment projects, and supporting key business processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in petroleum economics, excellent Excel skills, and a deep understanding of the UK oil and gas fiscal regime. We have a current opportunity for a Economist on a contract basis for a maternity cover. The position will be based in either Uxbridge or Aberdeen with a leading energy company.
The primary purpose of the role is to evaluate growth and business opportunities across the client's UK business and to cover the current incumbent’s maternity leave.
The incumbent will play a key role in delivering best-in-class results by:
• Providing economic evaluations as needed in support of investment opportunities across the UK with potential to support Africa business. These include exploration, development, brownfield projects and other strategic options
• Presenting economic analysis to Joint Venture partners
• Participating in project Gate Reviews including the preparation of Gate documentation
• Providing support for project PAF’s, the Strategic Plan, the annual Work Programme & Budget and other key business processes (e.g. impairment & reserves reviews)
• Participating in Peer Reviews and proactively identifying any issues requiring an Economics Peer Assist
• Participating in economic lookbacks on major expenditures to assess value added and capital efficiency
• Completing other analyses and ad hoc projects as required
You are/you have:
• An established petroleum economist with specific experience working on UK economic evaluations
• Exposure to G&G, Reservoir Engineering, Facilities Engineering and Planning
• Expert knowledge of the UK oil and gas fiscal regime
• Experience of providing economics evaluations in support of commercial analysis
• Strong economic modelling history with ability to review other economists’ work
• High level of excel knowledge and presentation skills
At a minimum, you have:
• A history of working as the economist within project evaluation teams
• Advanced Excel capability
