Job description

About Us

Fideres delivers effective economic analysis and testimony, turning data into courtroom advantage. As global litigation experts, we help law firms secure new cases and offer unbiased, conflict-free insights for complex and innovative disputes. Driven by rigorous analysis, we empower justice—for all—from case strategy to victory.

By dedicating ourselves solely to litigation-based economic analysis, we can provide truly unbiased assessments and maintain our commitment to objectivity.

Our Competition litigation consulting team has provided expert opinions on major antitrust legal actions against Big Tech (including Apple, Amazon, and Facebook), Big Pharma, Big Finance, and Big Agriculture. Meanwhile, our original and innovative reports on river sewage and Covid-19 have led to national press coverage.

Our Financial and Securities Litigation team has acted as plaintiffs' experts in some of the most consequential financial cartels and market manipulation cases of the past 10 years.

About this Role

We are seeking an entry to mid-level Case Evaluation Economist to join our business development team.

This team is responsible for conducting early-stage economic analysis of anticompetitive conduct. Our ability to support law firms globally during the crucial case development phase differentiates Fideres from other economic consultancies.

This role offers the opportunity to work with complex datasets, limited information, and across all major sectors of the economy, making it attractive for those seeking purpose-driven employment that combines strong analytical skills with creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze anticompetitive corporate conduct, including assessing theories of harm, market definition, and developing preliminary damages models.
  • Conduct detailed statistical analysis of market manipulation allegations as part of Fideres’ expert consulting mandates.
  • Produce clear and concise reports summarizing key findings.
  • Present key findings verbally to clients, ensuring understanding of results and their implications.
  • Write periodic blogs exploring new and emerging competition economic themes.
  • Respond promptly and helpfully to client requests.
  • Mentor new analysts on report writing and presentations, depending on experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of billable hours spent on each project.

Key Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will have:

  • An MSc in Economics or an equivalent qualification (a Bachelor's degree in Economics will also be considered).
  • A passion for competition policy and market regulation, with a strong desire to address corporate misconduct and correct market distortions.
  • Some work experience in an economic consultancy or at a regulator for more experienced applicants.
  • Knowledge of key competition economics topics.
  • The ability to write insightful reports and explain complex issues simply, for non-specialists.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of identifying core issues in complex problems.
  • Competence in R is required; some knowledge of Python is preferred.
  • Experience with web-scraping is advantageous.
  • Integrity, curiosity, and creativity.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Bloomberg.
  • Initiative and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Responsiveness to client needs and solution-oriented approach.
  • Focus on delivery and project completion.
  • Confidence to express opinions and propose new solutions.
