Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to join the Economic Development team. You will provide administrative support for markets, events, promotions, and street trading activities across Barnsley Town Centre and Principal Towns.

You will work with independent traders, manage meetings, and help monitor performance. This fixed-term role runs from 1 January 2027 to 31 January 2028, with flexible working possibilities and opportunities for development.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to Town Centre meetings and related groups.
• Coordinate information and data for markets, events and promotions.
• Process Street Trading Consent applications and ensure timely submissions and payments.
• Produce reports and monitor performance of urban centres (occupancy, footfall).
• Respond to phone and email queries related to place management.
• Liaise with internal teams and external partners to support town centre vitality.
