Job description
Overview

NES Fircroft are recruiting for an Ecologist / Clerk of Works to support a long term energy project in North Wales.

This project will run for approx. 3 years, and within the role, you will support, oversee and monitor the Construction Contractor with the implementation of measures defined within the OCEMP, along with ensuring the pre-construction surveys are undertaken and any advance mitigation measures required are implemented.

As part of the role, you will be required onsite 5.5 days per week (Mon-Fri FT, Sat morning) and we can offer the contract outside IR35 / umbrella / PAYE - rate dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ecological advice to the Construction Contractor over the entire construction program
  • Undertake or oversee pre-construction surveys for protected species in the areas affected by the TCPA Proposed Development
  • Monitor ecological conditions during the Construction Stage to identify additional constraints that may arise as a result of natural changes to ecological baseline over time (e.g. the monitoring of badger activity within and in close proximity to construction works)
  • Provide ecological toolbox talks to site personnel (including ecological receptors) to make them aware of ecological constraints and information
  • Highlight mitigation to minimize impacts and make site personnel aware of their responsibility with regards to wildlife and sensitive habitats in the context of legislation and policy
  • Monitor the implementation of mitigation measures during the Construction Stage to ensure compliance with protected species legislation, licensing, and commitments within the ES
  • Deliver coherent and timely solutions to ecological constraints
