Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join a Kent-based ecological consultancy. The role involves surveys, reporting and supporting planning projects across the South East.

You will undertake habitat and protected species surveys, contribute to ecological appraisals, and help with mitigation and licensing. A relevant degree and full UK driving licence are required, with a permanent, full-time arrangement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related subject.
• Experience in ecological consultancy.
• Experience conducting habitat and/or protected species surveys.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Undertake habitat and protected species surveys.
• Contribute to Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and EcIAs.
• Assist with BNG assessments and ecological management plans.

Are you an experienced Ecologist looking to join a friendly, specialist consultancy with a strong reputation across the South East?

Our client is an established ecological consultancy providing expert planning advice, protected species surveys and ecological support to developers, housebuilders, local authorities and other professional clients. The team delivers a wide range of projects, from feasibility and ecological assessments through to protected species mitigation, BNG and post-planning support.

As an Ecologist, you will:

• Undertake habitat and protected species surveys
• Contribute to Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and EcIAs
• Assist with BNG assessments and ecological management plans
• Prepare clear, high-quality ecological reports
• Provide practical ecological advice to clients and project teams
• Support mitigation, licensing and planning requirements
