Job description

Job Title: Lighting Electrician

Location: Reading / High Wycombe

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 Hours Per Week (Hours typically 6am - 2.30pm with flexibility)

Salary: GBP36,432 Total Salary (Includes Standby Payment (1:4 x 13 Periods), Overtime, Travel Time, and great company benefits)

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled Lighting Electrician to join our company, working with one of our major UK supermarket clients.

The role involves responsible for lighting planned maintenance and emergency repairs in approximately 100+ retail stores, ensuring work is done to pre-determined standards efficiently and cost-effectively, while adhering to the company's Health and Safety policies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Respond promptly to service call requests from the Helpdesk, assess job requirements, and carry out repairs as necessary.
2. Complete PPM schedules within agreed timescales and ensure all paperwork is accurately completed following procedures.
3. Identify non-repairable faults in lighting equipment and advise the Area Maintenance Manager with recommendations for replacements.
4. Inform Store Managers of any lighting repair and maintenance issues affecting store operations.
5. Monitor and update job statuses within the system, including live updates.

Qualifications / Experience:

Essential:

1. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2 Electrical Installation
2. City & Guilds 18th Edition
3. Basic knowledge of lighting installation in stores (cable glands, conduits, track, light density/spread, cable types/loadings)

The ideal candidate:

1. Full driving license
2. Ability to maintain and repair various lighting systems to recognized standards (filament, fluorescent, mercury vapour, sodium, low voltage, car park)
3. Ability to locate electrical feeds and follow safe isolation procedures
4. Ability to interpret distribution legends within supply boards if required
5. Comfortable working at heights using steps and ladders
6. Ability to distinguish colours as required for lighting work
7. Flexibility to stay away from home occasionally and work flexible hours, including night shifts if necessary
