Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the General Ledger team as a Full Time Assistant Accountant, working 40 hours per week at our Regional Office in Worksop, on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will provide support to the Finance Manager/Management Accountant, ensuring all monthly deadlines are met and all monthly reconciliations are completed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Producing Monthly Accounts for overhead cost centres
  • Assisting in the preparation of cost centre budgets and forecasts
  • Reconciliation and processing of prepayments, accruals, and standard charges
  • Managing company paid credit cards
  • Performing Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Completing national statistics returns
  • Overseeing and assisting in bank account reconciliations
  • Ensuring year-end schedules for tax packs are completed monthly
  • Reconciling PSA for correct calculation and submissions to HMRC
  • Reconciling intercompany accounts monthly with other group companies
  • Preparing VAT returns quarterly
  • Processing adhoc payment requests
  • Assisting in the preparation of Statutory Accounts and Tax Packs
  • Processing Intercompany Journals
  • Replenishing and reconciling petty cash
  • Managing and reconciling Fixed Asset control accounts and producing related reports for management
  • Managing the capital approval processes in compliance with regional and group policies
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
  • Willingness to study towards ACCA/CIMA
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to commute to Worksop FSSC
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of accounting systems and ledger interactions (advantageous but not essential)

The successful candidate will need to provide original documentation for screening and vetting, which may include passport, driver’s license, recent utility bill, HMRC letter, original bank statements, payslip, birth certificate, or a valid share code.
