Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic People Manager with generalist experience to deliver our HR and People services.

Job Description

As People Manager, you'll work across the whole employee lifecycle, providing professional and proactive support for staff, ensuring the Trust is legally compliant in all HR related matters and promote a positive and inclusive working culture.

KEY RESULT AREAS

HR Services

  • Assist managers with HR support, advice, guidance, training, skills and tools to proactively manage their teams effectively.
  • Advise on employee relations issues, at all times ensuring best practice, legal compliance and policies and procedures are adhered to and, where necessary, partnering with external employment advisers.
  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures are reviewed annually and compliant with legal requirements and best practice.
  • Develop and implement performance management systems and provide support and training for staff.
  • Collate information from staff personal development plans and produce annual training & development plan.
  • Support managers with the induction of new staff including the design and delivery of induction programs.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current HR employment legal case law to minimise risk for Harewood House Trust.
  • Provide one-to-one education and training sessions or group workshop sessions to upskill staff.
  • Implement absence procedures and advise managers and staff accordingly. Take an active role in managing sickness absence as appropriate.
  • Manage recruitment and selection processes including advertising vacancies and supporting recruiting managers.
  • Align HR strategy as directed by the Deputy CEO with operational goals.
  • Support change management processes.
Job Requirements

HR Administration

  • Establish and maintain information systems for all staff, including personal files, new employee details, holidays, and absence records.
  • Liaise with managers and payroll providers to collate and prepare monthly payroll data, ensuring accurate calculation and processing of wages/deductions, including statutory payments.
  • Carry out general HR administration such as onboarding, pension letters, leavers, reference requests, and employee benefits (e.g., Employee Assistance Programme).
  • Monitor and collate People data such as employee turnover and sickness absence.
  • Produce management reports and information as required by the Deputy CEO and the Executive.

  • Promote an inclusive organisational culture aligned with our values that supports anti-racism in all its forms.
  • Ensure diversity & inclusion is integrated into all HR processes and policies to meet the needs of a diverse workforce.
  • Chair the EDI working group and staff forum effectively.
  • Stay updated with legal requirements and best practices in HR, diversity & inclusion, and health & wellbeing.

Other

  • Undertake HR projects as directed by the Deputy CEO.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, handling matters sensitively and appropriately.
  • Manage the People budget following Trust financial practices and guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the Deputy CEO.
