Overall Purpose of the Role

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the Chartwells Universities & Colleges Proposition. The primary goal is to drive profitable revenue growth through participation and MAP2 growth, supporting sales and retention pipelines.

This will be achieved by creating measurable activation plans focusing on key categories such as lunch, hot beverages, and food to go, increasing participation, spend, and frequency across universities and colleges via apps, kiosks, and tills.

The role involves engaging with stakeholders to maximize activity impact, supported by market and internal insights, aligning with business protocols and objectives.

More about the role:

  • Developing and communicating the annual marketing plan collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Creating engaging promotional materials through third-party agencies and in-house tools within set budgets and timelines
  • Managing outsourced creative agencies
  • Preparing operational briefs for new offers and campaigns
  • Designing marketing assets using Canva for digital and print support
  • Building and managing the marketing budget with approval from senior management
  • Securing sponsorships to fund marketing activities
  • Approving promotional business cases for retail promotions

Food Development

  • Determining the Annual Food Development Plan with the Executive Development Chef, using consumer insights to innovate and meet customer needs

Insight

  • Gathering marketplace, consumer, and operator insights to inform marketing and food offerings
  • Creating and promoting annual consumer surveys to gather insights
  • Developing point-of-sale materials and operator briefings to maximize survey responses
  • Producing comprehensive reports on survey findings and site-level data analysis

Brand Standards

  • Maintaining brand standards across all Chartwells brands
  • Ensuring new templates adhere to brand guidelines
  • Approving outlet visuals and branded items for consistency and quality
  • Supporting SOP development for creating welcoming, sales-optimized spaces

Uni Food Hub & Kiosks

  • Updating and optimizing content on the Uni Food Hub and related apps
  • Providing feedback for app development and enhancement
  • Managing menu updates on digital platforms

Student Engagement & Community Marketing Managers

  • Supporting training and development for community marketing teams
  • Briefing teams on campaign implementation
  • Managing senior managers to deliver key projects like Freshers

Franchises

  • Amending assets for campaigns and managing artwork production
  • Creating Quarterly Business Review packs
  • Sharing content on LinkedIn to promote thought leadership
  • Supporting sales teams with content for bids and presentations
  • Organizing photoshoots and producing briefs for marketing assets
