We'd like you to join us as a Bank Chef at our service Woodlands in York.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who must be flexible within their kitchen duties and is looking to work sociable daytime hours with no late evenings or split shifts, within a small friendly kitchen team. Free parking and free meals whilst on duty.
What you'll be working:
- Bank hours depending on the needs of the service.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen to ensure the centre's reputation for food quality is maintained.
- Prepare, cook, and present food for 27 service users, ensuring any special dietary requirements are met to the standards required by the company and service users.
- Enhance the centre's reputation for food quality and service.
- Drive and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, liaising with Environmental Health inspectors if necessary.
- Ensure compliance with legislation on food preparation and handling, including HACCP, Safer Food Better Business, and COSHH.
- Observe company controls for portion size and monitor waste.
- Inspect dishes for quality, temperature, and attractiveness before serving.
- Maintain records related to food production activities and supplies as required.
- Work to planned menus and order foodstuffs accordingly, checking and recording supplies and deliveries.
- Avoid wastage and deterioration of foodstuffs.
- Promote good relationships with staff, visitors, and service users.
- Ensure clear communication during handovers to catering staff.
- Maintain a clean environment, including washing up and adhering to cleaning schedules.
What you'll have:
- Appropriate catering qualification.
- Working knowledge of Food Safety regulations.
- A minimum Level 2 Food Safety qualification is desirable.
- Sound interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Ability to be innovative.
- Flexible attitude to working hours and catering duties, including cleaning and dishwashing.
- Enthusiastic, conscientious, diligent, and a 'can do' attitude.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
