Position: Bank Chef at Woodlands, York
We are seeking a dynamic individual who is flexible in kitchen duties and interested in working sociable daytime hours with no late evenings or split shifts, within a small, friendly kitchen team.

What you'll be working:
- Bank hours depending on the needs of the service.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen to maintain the centre’s reputation for food quality.
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting food for 27 service users, including accommodating special dietary requirements, to the standards of the company and service users.
- Enhancing the centre’s reputation for food quality and service.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, liaising with Environmental Health inspectors if necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation on food preparation and handling, including HACCP, Safer Food Better Business, and COSHH.
- Observing portion controls and monitoring waste.
- Inspecting dishes for quality, temperature, and attractiveness before serving.
- Maintaining records related to food production activities and supplies, providing information as required by the Head of Support Services.
- Working to planned menus, ordering foodstuffs, and checking supplies and deliveries.
- Avoiding unnecessary wastage and deterioration of foodstuffs.
- Promoting good relationships with staff, visitors, and service users.
- Communicating handovers clearly to catering staff.
- Maintaining a clean environment, washing up, and adhering to cleaning schedules.
What you'll have:
- Working knowledge of Food Safety regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Innovative thinking.
- Flexible attitude to working hours and duties, including cleaning and dishwashing.
- Enthusiasm, conscientiousness, diligence, and a 'can-do' attitude.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
