Job description

This is an excellent opportunity to cover a maternity leave for 12 months. The role involves managing all accounting work for a small subsidiary of a major business, as well as assisting with additional group requirements.

Description

The key responsibilities in this role include:

1. Management of the External Audit and Statutory Reporting Processes for the subsidiary.
2. Quarterly preparation of VAT returns.
3. Responsible for corporate tax filings, liaising with Group Tax for the tax computation, and providing additional analysis and support.
4. Ensuring a robust and compliant control environment, overseeing activities with Internal Audit, and working with Operational Finance on remediation plans.
5. Ownership of subsidiary budgets, forecasts, and related reporting processes.
6. Preparation of balance sheet forecasts.
7. Regular review and reporting of performance against plans and forecasts.
8. Preparation of monthly management reports, including internal submissions to Group.
9. Ownership and continuous improvement of balance sheet reconciliations.

Other Requirements for Group

• Support on external reporting requirements, including insurance information, operational filings, and ONS returns. Drive process improvements and provide coaching as needed.
• Assist the Finance Reporting team with ad-hoc projects, reports, and analysis.
• Support intercompany recharges, cost allocations, and the development of related accounting processes.

Profile

The successful candidate will possess:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA).
• Prior experience in a technical accounting role is preferred.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Strong Excel skills for data analysis, financial modelling, and reporting.
• Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports, conduct variance analysis, and provide insights.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation in accordance with FRS 102 or IFRS.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and tax regulations, with the ability to support tax filings.

Job Offer

A highly competitive salary, additional benefits including an excellent pension, and a daily rate considered on a 4-day week basis (inside IR35). Candidates must be available to start immediately and be comfortable with hybrid working in Cheltenham (2 days onsite).
