Job summary

Flogas is looking for an EC&I Technician to design, develop, install and commission control systems and instrumentation across customer sites and Flogas depots. The role involves traveling around the UK to install, test and commission equipment, with a focus on safe operation and reliability.

You will work with Hazardous Area electrical systems, instrument calibration and process communications, contributing to the drive toward renewable energy and technology upgrades for customers nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of PLC functioning.
  • Experience of installation and commissioning of Hazardous Area Electrical systems.
  • Experience of process communications including MODBUS, PROFIbus and PROFI-net.
  • Experience of instrument calibration, inspection and testing of a wide range of instrumentation: Pressure, level, flow, temperature.
  • Time served apprenticeship EC&I or electrical.
  • Level 3 NVQ Electrical CG2365, Minimum.
  • Level 3 BTEC Instrumentation and control engineering, Minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, install and commission control systems and instrumentation.
  • Monitor and control processes at customer sites and our depots.
  • Travel across the UK to sites as required.

How you’ll power our business as an EC&I Technician

As an EC&I Technician, will be responsible for designing, developing, installing and commissioning control systems and instrumentation that we use to monitor and control the process at our customers and our own Flogas operational depots throughout the UK, including faut finding and rectification on sites across the country.

Travel requirements around the UK are part of this role and candidates must be flexible to accommodate this. Here at Flogas, we may have a fossil fuels background, but we’re working towards delivering 100% renewable energy to our customers by 2040. We’re already supporting our customers to reduce their carbon emissions, by helping them make the switch from oil to gas. We’re also developing our offering for technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels, beginning to help our customers reduce their energy consumption and evolving new bio-fuels and renewable gases. What we’ll need from you
  • Basic understanding of PLC functioning
  • Experience of installation and commissioning of Hazardous Area Electrical systems.

  • Basic understanding of engineering documentation (Functional Design Specification (FDS), User Requirements Specification (URS)
  • Time served apprenticeship EC&I or electrical.
  • Level 3 NVQ Electrical C&G2365, Minimum.
  • Level 3 BTEC Instrumentation and control engineering, Minimum.
