Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is hiring for a hardware/electrical design role based at their Retford head office. You will create schematic drawings, general arrangements and detailed drawings, selecting hardware and designing analogue I/O, with site support during testing.

The position offers £40,000–£45,000 basic salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, a company bonus, 4% pension, private medical and life insurance, and hybrid working (2 days from home)."

Qualifications

• A couple of years' practical hardware or electrical design experience, or a strong completed apprenticeship.
• HND or degree in engineering, or an equivalent apprenticeship.
• Grounding in schematic drawings, general arrangements and technical drawings.
• Understanding of hardware selection, cable sizing and switchgear.
• Knowledge of starter circuits (DOL/star-delta, soft start and inverter) and analogue I/O.
• Awareness of EMC design, surge protection and containment design.
• Good communication skills and a methodical, practical approach.
• Desire to progress into a senior design role.

Responsibilities

• Producing schematic drawings, general arrangements and detailed technical drawings.
• Selecting hardware, including cable sizing, switchgear and starter circuits (DOL/star-delta, soft start and inverter).
• Designing analogue I/O and sourcing/sinking circuits.
• Supporting EMC design, surge protection and installation/containment design.
• Putting together design schedules (I/O lists, instrument and motor lists), specifications and test documentation.
• Providing site support during testing and commissioning.
• Working closely with the Lead Project Engineer and the wider design team.

Our client is a leading engineering company delivering mechanical, structural and EC&I turnkey solutions for the UK's national infrastructure. You'll be based at their head office in Retford, working as part of a close-knit design team, with travel to national and international sites as projects require.
