From facilities expansion to next-generation security enhancements and runway resurfacing, no two days are alike at London Gatwick. The diverse projects and dynamic live environment ensure continuous challenges and learning opportunities.

To support your development, you'll receive necessary training to grow professionally. The Construction Department at London Gatwick includes several programme and project teams, along with technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport's Capital Investment Programme (CIP) and strategic growth over the next five years, encompassing projects across the campus to develop fit-for-purpose critical infrastructure.

What is the role?

The role also involves offering technical support and guidance on Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?

  1. Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with clear milestones and monitoring activities, considering interdisciplinary constraints and interfaces.
  2. Monitor schedules to identify critical activities and update functions for specific disciplines or specialties, assisting in schedule updates and monitoring requirements.
  3. Apply installation rates to quantity take-offs and developed quantities, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
  4. Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic for specific disciplines, and prepare progress and performance reports.
  5. Manage contract programme assessments, acceptance/rejection, and delay analysis.
  6. Review quantity logs to ensure accurate representation and assist in developing job hour expenditure forecasts.
  7. Analyze contractor schedules against the baseline, identifying critical path activities and variances.

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Degree/Post-Grad in construction or a related field.
  • Typically three years of experience as a planner on projects over £10m.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Experience in planning infrastructure projects in live operational environments is desirable.
  • Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
  • Knowledge of financial and mathematical reports.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Awareness of airport operations is a plus.
  • Resilience and ability to operate within ambiguity.
