Qualifications

Planner - Dynamic Airport Expansion Projects (Hiring Immediately)

Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact your work has on the airport's evolving landscape and our passengers. This role offers unique insights and places you at the heart of providing comprehensive planning services for your supported projects.

From facilities expansion to next-generation security and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at London Gatwick. The diversity of projects and the live environment ensure continuous challenges and learning opportunities.

To support your journey, you'll be provided with the necessary development to grow. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams, responsible for delivering the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next five years, encompassing critical infrastructure projects across the campus.

What is the role?

London Gatwick is rapidly changing, making this an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join a high-performing team shaping Gatwick's future infrastructure.

The Planner will operate across all project stages, managing projects up to approximately £50m, providing a full planning service. Responsibilities include schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, recovery planning, and offering technical guidance on Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?

  • Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with milestones and monitoring activities, coordinating work sequences with the overall project plan.
  • Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and assist in schedule updates and implementation.
  • Apply installation rates to quantities and review contractor schedules, providing recommendations.
  • Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic; prepare progress and performance reports.
  • Assess contract programmes, analyze delays, and evaluate contractor schedules against baseline.

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Degree or Post-Grad in construction or a related field.
  • Approximately three years of planning experience on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Experience in planning infrastructure projects in operational environments is a plus.
  • Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
  • Knowledge of financial reports and NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Awareness of airport operations is beneficial.
  • Resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
