Job Description:

Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact your work has on the evolving landscape of the airport and its passengers. This role offers unique insights and places you at the heart of providing comprehensive planning services for your projects.

From facilities expansion to next-generation security measures and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at London Gatwick. The variety of projects and the live environment will keep you challenged and learning.

To support your growth, you'll be provided with the necessary development opportunities. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams and technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport's Capital Investment Programme (CIP) and strategic growth over the next five years, encompassing projects across the campus to deliver critical infrastructure.

What is the role?

London Gatwick is evolving rapidly, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join a high-performing team shaping Gatwick's future infrastructure.

The Planner will work across all project stages, managing projects valued up to approximately £50m, providing full planning services. Responsibilities include schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery planning, along with technical support such as Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?

  • Develop and maintain a detailed delivery schedule with milestones and monitoring activities, considering interdisciplinary constraints and interfaces, and coordinate with the overall project plan.
  • Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and update functions for specific disciplines or specialties.
  • Apply installation rates to quantities, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
  • Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic; generate progress and performance reports.
  • Assess contract programmes, evaluate compensation events, and perform delay analysis.
  • Review quantity logs and develop job hour expenditure estimates.
  • Compare contractor schedules against baseline, identify critical path activities, and analyze performance variances.

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Degree/Post-Grad in construction or related field.
  • Approximately three years' experience as a planner on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Experience in planning infrastructure projects in operational environments is a plus.
  • Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup processes.
  • Knowledge of financial and mathematical reports.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Awareness of airport operations is beneficial.
  • Resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
