Job description

We're hiring for a Senior Software Engineer within our fundamental modelling team. The primary goal of this team is to improve the predictive power of our models based on historical event data. The quality of our models is incredibly important to us, and improvements directly impact financial performance.

You'll be working closely with researchers, maintaining trading infrastructure, and helping the team scale and improve the core systems. Your work will involve data pipelines, building and supporting systems, and infrastructure. This role requires extensive experience across multiple technologies.

The ideal candidate will be highly creative, enjoy generating innovative solutions, and suggest improvements to methodologies. You will have a high level of autonomy to design and implement tooling and systems suited to the problems at hand. A strong knowledge of operating systems, networks, software architecture, and practical deployment experience is essential.

We are a hybrid working company, with staff coming into the London office every Thursday and working remotely the rest of the week. Our typical hours are 10 am to 6 pm UK time, Monday to Friday, with flexible working arrangements.

We are targeting Senior Developers with several years of experience in mission-critical systems where precision, reliability, and fault tolerance are paramount. Our interview process includes:

  1. A brief screening call to provide role details and assess suitability.
  2. A 60-minute technical interview with our CTO and/or Team Lead, discussing experience and system design challenges.
  3. A collaborative coding assessment day focused on systems design and approach to tradeoffs, from 10 am to 4 pm UK time.
  4. An in-person 'meet the team' at our London office.

Requirements include:

  1. At least one of the following:
    • A degree in a technical subject from a top university.
    • Several years of senior experience in building mission-critical systems.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Fluency in multiple programming languages, especially Python.
    • Development and maintenance of CI pipelines.
    • Complex deployments on AWS.
    • Docker or similar containerization technologies.

Nice to have experience with numpy/pandas/torch, or Golang.

Benefits include:

  • Salary range £40,000 to £80,000, depending on experience.
  • Participation in an uncapped bonus scheme (10-20%).
  • 10% matched pension contributions.
  • Private healthcare and long-term illness insurance.
  • Gym membership.
  • Choice of hardware and setup for your environment.

Additional details:

  • Experience: Required
  • Employment: Full-time
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm
  • Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 yearly
  • Benefits: 20% bonus of project
