Job description

Our team of hundreds of skilled experts keeps Formula 1 moving. We’re on the lookout for a Track Systems Technician!

Reporting to the Track Systems Team Manager, the main purpose of this role is the installation, deployment, and management of the F1 timing data acquisition and communications system at F1 race locations.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Competently install timing loops, beacons, and track temperature sensors on the surface of the track, involving manual work such as digging, soldering, and operation of machinery and tools (health and safety training will be provided).
2. Work safely, considering company and location-specific Health and Safety requirements.
3. Install, test, and terminate coaxial and multi-core twisted pair data cables used for loop and decoder data communications.
4. Test and verify the correct functioning of all timing data acquisition equipment and related hardware.
5. Perform fault finding on basic IT networks and cable systems.
6. Compile and publish reports for the department.
7. Work outdoors in various global destinations.
8. Ensure tools and equipment are correctly used, maintained, and transported between races.
9. Read, understand, and work according to F1 Circuit Drawings for correct equipment setup.
10. Configure and monitor data flows using F1 software to ensure system functionality, reporting issues as needed.
11. Mark loop IDs on track with spray paint.
12. Install beacon fittings in track and pit lane.
13. Mark front axle points for pit-stop boxes in pit lane.
14. Configure and deploy timing decoders, pit lane nodes, and workshop furniture.

About You:

• Previous experience in electronics or network IT environments.
• Experience fault finding on electrical/electronic wiring systems.
• Ability to read and work with wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
• Well-presented, organized, with a positive attitude.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to travel regularly for extended periods (1-3 weeks).
• Willingness to learn new skills and a keen interest in technical subjects related to the role.
• Excellent communication skills, able to express oneself clearly and concisely.
• Good time management skills.
• Current UK Driving License.
