Job Description:

We are pleased to announce a new exciting opportunity to join our Property Safety team as a Multi Maintenance Operative (Fire Door Maintenance Operative) working across the City of Sunderland. This role reflects our commitment to growth and delivering outstanding service to our valued customers.

In this role, you will work closely with the Property Safety team to assist and support colleagues in delivering repairs and maintenance services. Your responsibilities will include completing all works related to fire doors, such as inspections, maintenance, repairs, hardware changes, and upkeep. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and satisfaction of our customers.

This position offers a standard 36-hour workweek, with flexibility for occasional overtime. We also provide training and development opportunities to help you expand your skills, improve your performance, and grow professionally.

Requirements:

• A full UK driver’s license is required.
• The role is subject to a basic DBS check, paid for by Gentoo.
• Demonstrable experience in carrying out minor building repairs across various trades.
• Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety regulations.
• Competence in using handheld IT systems.
• Strong communication skills with customers, colleagues, and wider teams.
• Openness to continual learning and skill development.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with general multi-maintenance repairs, including timber and UPVC doors/windows & fire doors (training provided).
• Joinery NVQ Level 2.
• Experience installing timber doors, UPVC doors, and windows.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide excellent customer service through clear communication and respectful attitude.
2. Conduct annual and quarterly fire door inspections (training provided).
3. Perform general repairs to occupied, void, and communal areas.
4. Complete work efficiently and in accordance with legal, obligatory, and company standards.
5. Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of work status.
6. Coordinate with other trades as needed.
7. Maintain accurate documentation related to work activities.
