Junior Electrical Engineer - Data Centre - Hertfordshire

Our client is a large and well-established MEP Sub-Contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major Mechanical & Electrical Packages on behalf of Tier 1 main contractors involved in ‘technology’ schemes including Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semi-Conductor plants, and heavy industrial projects.

Due to continued growth in their pharmaceutical division, our client is seeking an experienced Junior Electrical Engineer to join their team based on a Data Centre build in Hertfordshire.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in the design, coordination, and documentation of electrical systems for data centre projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and earthing systems.
2. Support senior engineers in preparing technical drawings, load calculations, and schematics, using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
3. Attend site inspections and commissioning activities to gain practical experience, ensuring installations align with design intent and industry standards.
4. Participate in project meetings and design reviews, capturing notes, updating documentation, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to track progress and resolve issues.
5. Research and review specifications, codes, and standards, contributing to the preparation of reports, risk assessments, and compliance checks under the guidance of senior team members.

Requirements

1. Relevant degree level qualification or Electrical trades background.
2. Data Centre experience is preferred.
3. Must have 1+ years’ experience in a similar role.
