Responsibilities include securing high-voltage and medium-voltage power connections, deploying infrastructure, and ensuring a reliable, sustainable electricity supply for our data centers.

Position Overview

Vantage seeks a Junior Electrical Engineer (HV, MFGP, Nuclear, and Other Renewable Sources) to support the technical aspects of energy infrastructure and multi-fuel generation plants across EMEA. The role involves reviewing and supporting power infrastructure design, ensuring alignment with standards and stakeholder requirements, and managing stakeholders such as utilities and contractors. The engineer will develop conceptual and schematic designs, specifications, review documents, and manage EPC contractors, focusing on commissioning and operational transition. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to deliver optimized, cost-effective infrastructure that aligns with Vantage’s energy goals.

Essential Job Functions

1. Electrical System Design & Innovation: Architect electrical system topologies, including HV substations, cables, multi-fuel generation, nuclear, and renewable sources like solar, batteries, microgrids, and wind.
2. Support for Substation, MFGP, SMR, Renewables & Cable Design: Review packages, specifications, equipment, and utility interfaces, including technical reviews and studies.
3. Value Engineering: Conduct value engineering to optimize cost and sustainability.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, operations, construction teams, and manage contractors and utility SMEs.
5. Customer Support: Assist sales with tours, RFPs, meetings, and emergencies.
6. Project Reporting: Report progress, risks, and priorities to management.
7. Grid and Regulatory Expertise: Knowledge of local grid, network operators, and regulations.
8. Coordination: Act as support contact for power matters, coordinating with utilities and project stakeholders.
9. Project & Design Management: Oversee project plans, equipment, design, and delivery, ensuring compliance and addressing challenges.
10. Compliance & Efficiency: Ensure adherence to standards, optimize power operations, and meet sustainability goals.
11. Continuous Improvement: Drive lessons learned, best practices, and stay updated on new technologies and legislation.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Major) or equivalent.
• 2-3 years in HV electrical design and delivery, preferably in data center applications.
• Understanding of EU substation design, IEC, BS standards, and utility requirements; UK National Grid experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, BIM 360, Navisworks.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Flexible, self-directed, and able to work across time zones and environments.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (20-25%).
