Role Profile
We are looking for an high calibre and responsible finance professional to assume the newly created role of Financial Accountant.
The Finance Operations & Tax team is at the heart of the Finance department, managing the group's global accounting, global governance and tax, treasury and accounts payable functions. This covers operations in the UK, USA, Singapore, UAE, China and Australia through its multiple brands including Lloyds List Intelligence, Infospectrum, Seasearcher, Lloyds List and i-Law.
As part of that team, this role will take responsibility for a large part of the accounting, tax reporting and treasury duties, supported by the Assistant Financial Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for ensuring monthly accounting entries (accruals, prepayments, etc.) are complete and accurate
- Completion of balance sheet reconciliations
- Adoption of best practices to leverage automation through Netsuite and adoption of AI tools to further streamline processes and enhance accuracy of accounts
- Working closely with FP&A to ensure costs are captured correctly in Netsuite on a right first time basis to ensure a timely month end process
- Quarterly VAT and Annual PAYE Self Assessment (PSA) reporting
- Liaison with PWC and other third party advisers to ensure global tax and accounting records are maintained
- Treasury management - ensuring effective banking and cash management processes are in place to support global operations, accurate cashflow reporting, and manage FX risk
- Support with the maintenance of the company's employee expenses systems including credit cards and travel
- Supporting the wider Finance Operations & Tax team where appropriate
- Other ad hoc and strategic projects as required
What we are looking for:
Essential
- You are a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- You have proven experience in a similar role
- You are technically minded, with experience using Oracle NetSuite or similar Finance systems
- You have a keen eye for detail, and a data quality mindset
- You have strong Excel skills to manage large/complex datasets
- You have excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy being part of an energised and highly motivated team
- You are inquisitive, and keen to collaborate with the wider Finance team and non-Finance functions
Desirable
- You have recent experience in Finance automation and best practice implementation projects
- You have experience working for a Private Equity owned company
- You are commercially minded - seeing the 'big picture' as well as understanding the fine details
